Taiwan's Digital Nomad Visa, launched in January 2025 under the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals, is a special visitor visa granting a 180-day stay; since a January 8, 2026 amendment it can be extended in-country in 6-month increments up to a total of two years. Open to nationals of visa-waiver countries working for overseas employers or clients, qualifying by income (US$40,000/year, or US$20,000 for ages 20-29) or by holding another country's nomad visa, plus a US$10,000 average bank balance and full health/hospitalization insurance. Fees vary by nationality (roughly US$50-160); no local work is allowed, dependents cannot be sponsored, and holders are excluded from National Health Insurance.
