Sri Lanka's Digital Nomad Visa, launched in early 2026, gives remote employees, freelancers, and owners of foreign-registered businesses a 12-month residence visa, renewable annually. You must remit at least USD 2,000 per month into Sri Lanka and pay a USD 500 annual fee per person (including spouse and dependents), with applications made to the Department of Immigration and Emigration's Residence Visa Division. Holders can open local bank accounts, rent property, and enrol children in international schools, but renewal requires registering with the Sri Lankan tax authority.
