Spain's digital nomad visa, created under the 2022 Startups Law, requires gross income of 200% of the minimum wage (EUR 2,849/month in 2026) from non-Spanish employers or clients, with Spanish-sourced income capped at 20%. Applying in-country via the UGE grants a three-year residence permit directly, renewable in two-year increments up to five years; consulates instead issue a one-year visa that can be converted. Applicants must be qualified professionals (degree or 3+ years' experience) with at least three months' history with their employer or clients, and permit time counts toward permanent residency.
