South Africa's Remote Work Visitor Visa, gazetted in its final form on 9 October 2024, is a visitor's visa issued for more than 3 months and up to 3 years for people working remotely for a foreign employer under contract. The official Department of Home Affairs requirement is a gross salary of at least R650,796 per year (about US$37,000), shown through three months of bank statements, plus a signed foreign employment contract. Applications are lodged at South African missions abroad; holders cannot take local employment, and stays beyond 183 days in a 12-month period trigger SARS tax registration.
