Pakistan Sets New Visa Fees for Irish Citizens, Tourist Rate Drops to €34

Irish travelers heading to Pakistan now pay less for a standard tourist visa after the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a revised euro-denominated fee schedule. Confirmed on Sept. 4, the single-entry tourist visa for stays of up to 90 days now costs €34 (about $37), down from €60.

What changed

Pakistan formalized specific euro pricing across tourist, business, and transit categories for Irish citizens. The new rates are:

  • Single-entry tourist visa (up to 90 days): €34
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa (up to one year): €50
  • Multiple-entry tourist visa (more than one year): €65
  • Single-entry work or business visa (up to 90 days): €95
  • Multiple-entry work or business visa (up to one year): €145
  • Multiple-entry work or business visa (more than one year): €190

All applications must be submitted through the Pakistan Online Visa System before departure. Standard tourist visas take seven to 10 working days to process, while multi-entry and work permits can take up to four weeks. Passports must have at least six months of validity when applying.

What it means for nomads

For remote workers considering Pakistan as a temporary base, the one-year multiple-entry tourist permit at €50 is the standout option—roughly €4 per month across a year of travel. Those needing longer-term commercial access will pay €190 upfront for multi-year business entry.

Keep in mind that a tourist visa is not a work authorization. If your income comes from clients or an employer outside Pakistan, a tourist visa may cover a short-term stay, but the business and work categories exist for those conducting local commercial activity. Check which tier matches your situation before applying.

Overstaying carries penalties. There is a 14-day grace period, after which surcharges apply—starting at $50 for stays exceeding two weeks and rising to $400 for overstays of up to a year. Extensions can be filed through the online portal, so anyone planning to remain beyond their permitted window should apply before their entry permission expires.
